The first fashion retailer to open up shop in Britain is up on the stock market, but will it still be profitable?
The UK’s second-largest fashion retailer, the B&am Group, is on the brink of bankruptcy and is facing a $400 million (£290 million) loss in the next year.
The company said it was seeking to “re-acquire and re-build” the business.
It has said it plans to sell its clothing and accessories businesses and to cut costs, but analysts say the retailer has a lot of untapped potential and it is not a “safe bet”.
“The B&s brand is well-established, but there is still a lot to be learned from the company, and it’s still in a precarious position,” said analyst Nick Jones from Morningstar.
“B&:B is the only major UK fashion retailer which has had its brand and its business survive the financial crisis, and I think they will have to do a lot more to rebuild their brand.”

Who is BAM?
It was founded in 1952 by Edward G. Bamm, an American who was a US Navy pilot during World War II.

Since then, BAM has sold thousands of designer clothing and shoes, and is famous for its iconic Buzzcut sunglasses, which feature a series of bright red lights.
The company has also sold off its clothing division and is selling off its luxury car and car accessories line.
Bamm said he believed he could have a successful future in the British market, and he bought the brand in 2005.
“I bought it in the late 70s, and over the years I’ve built it to be a world-class brand,” he said in 2011.
