When Tesla unveiled the Model S in 2016, many were excited.
Its styling, and especially its electric drivetrain, would become a major selling point in the car industry.
But it quickly came to be seen as a low-tech toy.
The Model X SUV, meanwhile, became an iconic symbol of the automotive industry.
Now, Tesla is facing criticism that the Model 3, its next generation car, is not designed for the 21st century.
But why does that matter?
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla has no plans to build a mass-market electric vehicle, a comment that was widely misinterpreted as a signal that the company is in the early stages of an all-electric future.
The truth is that Tesla, like all electric vehicles, has had a long road ahead.
In fact, the company has never been one to take risks.
“There’s a lot of people out there who think we’re going to be the only electric car company in the world in 20 years,” Musk said.
“And that’s a mistake.”
A few years ago, Tesla began testing out a battery pack with a lithium ion battery, which would help reduce its energy consumption.
Tesla’s goal is to have a battery that’s twice as efficient as the lithium ion.
The new battery pack, called the Powerwall, is the company’s first mass-produced lithium ion cell.
It is built on a 14-kilowatt-hour lithium ion, a technology that Tesla first developed with a solar panel on a roof.
Tesla will be able to sell the battery pack for $5,000 to $7,500 a kilowatt hour, and it’s currently available for purchase.
But Tesla is taking its time with the product.
“We’re not ready to roll out the Powerpack yet, and we’re not yet ready to make the Model3,” Musk told CNBC in November.
“But we think we can achieve a higher percentage of battery energy efficiency.”
Tesla plans to make its first mass production of the Powerpacks by late 2019.
“The Powerpack is an example of how we’re starting a new era for the industry, the first in a long line of innovations to make our cars and trucks lighter and more energy efficient,” Tesla said in a statement.
But Musk said the company will be making changes to the PowerPack to make it more energy-efficient, which will allow it to be sold in the United States and around the world.
Tesla also plans to sell its Powerpacks to foreign governments.
The company said that it is working with governments to provide power to countries that do not have electricity infrastructure.
The Powerpacks are built in China and Taiwan, and are the company and government’s only major manufacturing facilities for its battery packs.
The Chinese government, which is investing heavily in its electric car industry, will receive about 80 percent of the company after a deal is struck, Tesla said.
The government will receive the remainder from Tesla.
In 2019, Tesla plans a large manufacturing plant in China.
It will manufacture more than 10 million batteries for its electric cars and buses.
The batteries will then be exported to the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, and other markets.
The plan is to eventually build a massive battery plant in the UK, which has seen a dramatic rise in the adoption of electric vehicles.
Tesla is currently working on a factory in Texas that will be the largest of its kind in the U.S. In 2016, the American Chamber of Commerce of Texas said it would invest $200 million to build the first Tesla factory in the state.
The $200-million investment will include a $150 million investment in the company.

Tesla has also been working on its Model 3 and the Gigafactory, two new battery manufacturing facilities.
The Gigafactories will create thousands of jobs and the company expects the Gigacos to produce around 20,000 lithium ion batteries a year.
“Tesla has a long history of making high-performance, energy-efficiency vehicles, and they’ve built up a robust battery manufacturing facility in Texas,” said Dan Ditto, vice president of global operations at the National Automobile Dealers Association.
“While they may not be the first, the gigafactory will provide the best opportunity to meet the demand for batteries in the future.”
Tesla said that the Gigabuild will be a 1.3 million-square-foot factory.
The factory will produce up to 5,000,000 battery packs a year, which Tesla plans on shipping to countries in Asia, Europe, and the United Middle East.
The gigabuild is expected to be fully operational by 2022.
The first gigafactory will be in Texas, but Tesla is working to expand the factory in other states and countries.
